Trump the Samurai - Part 4 - Low Leverage


Last time we found Mid so that he could break up Cid's pity party.


I still find it funny that the speech bubbles are solid and you can't walk behind them.


Yay, we got a boat!


Yay, we wrecked a boat!


Yay, we found a chocobo!


Trump takes a moment to go back to Lix and mourn.


Grandpa no, I don't want to hear about the good old days again.


So our brilliant idea is to use a sandworm corpse to get to a sand current that doesn't just send us back to start.


This is all the damage Trump can manage with a crit.


Sandworm's physical attacks are weak and dodgable, but Quicksand is not physical, and it inflicts Sap, making him somewhat dangerous.


I miss him once and eat a Gravity to the face. Near death, I pull out my ace in the hole...


...and then I realized that I could have just done that from the start. Gravity doesn't matter when the boss fight is over.

Sandworm

After playing hide and seek with King Dad...


...we then escape from the exploding hell room.


I'm pushing this switch as hard as I can and nothing is happening. What do I have to do to

No Trump stop clipping through Mid that's not right


Cray Claw can be a jerk, mostly for the same reasons as Karlabos.


However he also has 25 defense. At level 17, Zeninage is not worthwile, and the basic attack only hits for about 160 (or about 350 on a crit).


He also can do a combination of Slimer, which inflicts Slow and Sap, and Tail Screw in order to kill you pretty much instantly.


After a few tries, I go level up to 19 so that Zeninage can at least do some damage. With 2000 HP, it takes 3 hits and a couple of attacks to take him down.


And fortunately, he did not use Slimer at all this time. I still had to burn both Hi-Potions though.

Cray Claw

That was the worst dance-off I have ever seen.


Now for Adamantoise. He's about the same as Cray Claw statwise, but with less style. He's also easy to dodge.


However, he has high defense and innate Protect. Crits ignore that, so I try to crit for a while but it only works the first time.


When he does hit, he hurts pretty bad. After burning several Elixirs, I decide to just end him.


Adamantoise also has 25 defense, so Zeninage only does the same amount of damage.


Alas, it turns out that I ran out of gil. When you don't have enough to pay the cost, you just do 0 damage regardless. You also don't spend the remaining money, which is a small comfort.


Anyway, the last attack finally crits, bringing him down.
